Kansas Gas has requested a 10-percent increase in monthly rates for residential customers, and the only planned public hearing on the topic is coming Thursday in Topeka.
The Kansas Corporation Commission will hear the Kansas Gas application to raise base rates by nearly $43 million, leading to a projected increase of nearly $5.70 a month for residential customers.
The hearing will be at the Washburn Institute of Technology and also simulcast online at www.kcc.ks.gov. A recording will be available on the KCC website starting Oct. 11. Public comment on the proposed rate increase will be accepted through Dec. 14.
