One of five defendants in an Emporia drug distribution case has a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Jacob Rodriguez faces two counts of drug distribution within 1,000 feet of a school, as well as single counts of drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture drugs, paraphernalia with intent to use and illegal use of a communication facility. Authorities say he was part of two controlled drug buys near Sacred Heart Elementary School last month and also traveled to Kansas City to pick up a kilogram of meth for drug activity.
The hearing is at 2:30 pm in Lyon County District Court.
Later this week, co-defendant Amanda Alvarado has a preliminary hearing on charges of distributing stimulants and possessing drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture. That hearing is taking place Thursday.
Fellow co-defendants Cole Bowen, Luis Guillen and Seana Herron have prelims Oct. 10. Bowen is charged with distributing stimulants and possessing drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture. Guillen and Herron are both charged with drug distribution within 1,000 feet of a school, two counts of drug paraphernalia and other counts.
