Clint Bowyer has advanced to the 2nd round of NASCARS Monster Energy Cup play-offs after finishing in 3rd place at Sundays race at Charlotte.
Martin Truex Jr and Jimmie Johnson were battling for the lead whe Johnson spun out and wrecked Truex Jr allowing Ryan Blaney to win the race, Jamie McMurry was 2nd and Clint Bowyer 3rd.
That finished moved Bowyer up to 5th in the playoff standings.
Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr are the top 3 in the standings.
Jimmie Johnson, Austin Dillon, Denny Hamlin and Erik Jones were eliminated from the playoffs. NASCAR goes to Dover for the start of round 2 of the playoffs.
