A Hartford man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 35 early Saturday morning.
Police Sgt. Tim Wacker says officers and Emporia rescue workers were called out to Interstate 35 mile marker 129, or near the Merchant Street exit, just short of 4:30 am. The police investigation shows that 39-year-old Jeffrey Kelley of Hartford was originally southbound but crossed the median and began traveling in a northbound lane. His truck then hit a car driven by 23-year-old Timothy Michaels of Emporia, who was part of the normal northbound traffic flow.
The incident was first listed as an injury crash, but Wacker says nobody was hurt. The drivers were the only two people in their respective vehicles.
Kelley was arrested as the investigation continued. Formal charges are pending.
