Emporia’s Underground Utilities Department repaired a water main that developed issues in west Emporia on Thursday.
Department supervisor Mike Dvorak says a 6-inch line developed a leak on West Sixth just east of Woodland. The leak was contained quickly, but traffic around the work zone had been reduced to one lane in either direction. At this time, it’s unclear when traffic will return to normal.
This follows the failure of a fire hydrant line near Eighth and Merchant early Thursday. That break means Merchant near that intersection will be closed until possibly Friday morning. Click here for details.
