Newman Regional Health’s Board of Trustees is moving forward with the installation of a new phone system for the hospital.
The hospital’s board approved the measure during its monthly meeting Wednesday. CEO Bob Wright thanked the city of Emporia and Lyon County for having the hospital as part of a cost-sharing project where Newman Regional Health will shoulder a third of the operating costs but will also have access to the necessary servers for free.
Wright says there is still about $500,000 worth of capital investment left, including upgrades to the wireless phone infrastructure, additional switch capacity and the actual phones.
The system will also feature wall phones and desk phones. Wright says the hospital’s computer technology team can now make adjustments or repairs instead of waiting for switching experts.
