Power continues to be re-routed from Westar Energy’s Hatcher Street substation to other substations while restoration work continues after a crash into the facility Sunday night.
Spokesperson Gina Penzig tells KVOE News there was significant damage, but the needed repairs could be done before the weekend.
Westar crews were able to reset a transformer bay that had been hit by a car around 10 pm Sunday, but West 15th remains closed between Graphic Arts and Hatcher Streets until further notice.
Emporia Police are continuing their investigation into the crash itself. So far, no details have been announced.
The nearly four-hour interruption knocked out power to several businesses along 15th, including Hostess at Industrial Park 1.
