Next month, a major survey is coming for patrons of USD 251 North Lyon County.
Superintendent Mike Mathes tells KVOE News the district has hired Patron Insight to ask a series of questions.
As part of that, the district is looking at possibly selling its central office location in downtown Americus.
On top of that, patrons will be asked whether they support having middle school students at Northern Heights — and whether they would rather have the high school in Americus instead of its current location.
Mathes says the district is looking to chart its future direction, and all these matters will be part of upcoming discussions. District patrons turned down three separate but related bond questions earlier this decade on building either a new K-12 campus or a junior-senior high building.
Not on the survey question list is the future of Reading Elementary. Mathes says the district is moving closer to finalizing its plans to re-open the building, perhaps as soon as next year.
Plans are in the early stages and the exact direction has not been fleshed out.
The survey begins Oct. 22 and will go about two weeks. Patron Insight will call residents. The district website, www.usd251.org, also will have an online survey option available next month.
