A jury trial is now on the docket in Chase County for January in the case of Shelby Carson.
At a pretrial hearing last week, Chase County District Court set a two-day trial Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 for Carson. A final pretrial is also on the docket for Jan. 3.
Carson stands accused of harboring a vicious animal and faces three formal counts. Carson was arrested following a June 4 incident where Chase County Sheriff Richard Dorneker shot and killed the dog after he alleged it became aggressive toward he and another responding deputy. Carson also faces two similar charges from an alleged incident May 18.
