An Emporia man accused of rape and aggravated sexual battery involving alleged incidents at his chiropractic business was in court Thursday for a bond modification hearing.
Eric Hawkins was seeking modifications to have limited contact with a witness for the sole purpose of closing his business interest. The witness was a coworker at Emporia Chiropractic LLC. Additionally, Hawkins sought modification that would allow him to move to Texas to support his wife and five children with a new job at a pool construction business. Judge Doug Jones ruled on both modifications.
Hawkins stands accused of rape and sexual battery after allegations surfaced the last few weeks involving three separate individuals since 2015. The Kansas Board of Healing Arts suspended his chiropractic license in July after an initial complaint was filed by a female client.
Hawkins will appear at a two-hour preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. Oct. 24. He remains free on $10,000 bond.
