Emporia High School is getting ready to honor some of its most notable students from the past.
Induction activities are taking place Friday for the Emporia High Hall of Fame’s Class of 2018. Selection committee member and spokesperson Laura Schwinn, KVOE’s Talk of Emporia guest on Wednesday, said people need to realize the impact Emporia High students have had in their respective field and, in some cases, around the world.
Activities will take place during Emporia High’s football game at Welch Stadium. The President’s Box is reserved for inductees, family members and representatives, and people can stop in and offer their congratulations. The inductees will then be brought down to the field for the formal recognitions and then attend a special reception through the third quarter.
This year’s class includes:
*William Lindsay White, Class of 1918
*Roy “Speed” Burns, Class of 1953
*Charles “Luckey” Heath, Class of 1954
*Dr. Lynn H. Kindred, Class of 1955
*Jack Mouse, Class of 1964
Applications are accepted all year long. Paper applications are available at the Emporia High office, and online applications will be available in early 2019.
