Political appearances are starting to pick up steam in and around Emporia.
Independent gubernatorial candidate Greg Orman will stop at Emporia State University on Thursday. He will be talking with Dr. John Barnett’s social sciences class at 2 pm at Plumb Hall Room 408. The public is encouraged to attend. Orman is part of a three-way race for governor including Republican Kris Kobach and Democrat Laura Kelly.
Also, Emporia Democrat Jim Hannon will be at Hammond Park on Friday for a fundraising appearance courtesy of the Emporia NEA and Lyon County Democrats. “Hot Dogs with Hannon” is from 4-7 pm at the Kiwanis shelter house. Hannon is facing Republican Ben Jones of Sterling for the Kansas Board of Education’s Seventh District position.
