The Newman Regional Health Foundation has a received a $10,000 grant from the Clint Bowyer 79 Fund to support its planned pediatric therapy department.
As the hospital prepares to open its new Emergency Department in December, renovation of the former space will begin. Foundation Director Michael Perigo says currently children receiving occupational, physical and/or speech therapy are seen in two different spaces in the hospital and across from the hospital.
The new space will include treatment rooms, a non-institutional looking waiting room and a 900 square foot pediatric gym. The total cost of the project is estimated at $149,000. Perigo says the $10,000 grant will put them well on their way to providing state-of-the-art facilities.
Renovation of the former Emergency Department space will begin at the start of 2019.
