A new community festival is taking place in Hartford this weekend.
“A Day to Honor” has been set up as a fundraiser for the fall rendition of the USD 252 Southern Lyon County Honor Flight. Organizer Bettina Shank, KVOE’s Newsmaker guest Wednesday, says this is a meaningful event for a lot of people in the district — including herself.
“A Day to Honor” is on the calendar with Hartford Harvest Day not being held this fall, and there are a slew of activities ranging from a bike ride and color run to breakfast, games, a veterans honor ceremony and dinner.
Honor Flight pairs high school students with area veterans for a quick trip to Washington, D.C., to see memorials and other tourist attractions. The next trip is Oct. 29-30. For more information on Honor Flight, call the district at 620-392-5519 or go online to www.usd252.org.
