KVOE’s annual Drive for Food is officially underway, and it’s starting when the Salvation Army food pantry is needing a lot of help.
During KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Tuesday, Capt. Deb Thompson said there are a lot of bare shelves.
The last major food drive to benefit the pantry was in May, and Thompson says supplies started thinning out noticeably by mid-July. Summer is typically a busier time because schoolchildren are home during those three months, but Thompson says traffic overall is slightly higher than it has been in past years even with school now underway for about a month.
To participate, email kvoe@kvoe.com with your physical address and then leave your donations at your home or business Oct. 11. KVOE, Boy Scout Troop No. 157 and Thomas Transfer will then stop by to pick up your donation. If a school or business wants to be a drop-off point for the annual KVOE Drive for Food, call KVOE at 342-1400 or email kvoe@kvoe.com.
