As the City of Emporia continues to wrap up its 2018 park improvements, one of the most anticipated projects of the year will likely not be ready until Spring.
Peter Pan Park is the site of a new splash pad which sits on the site of a former wading pool at the park. In addition, there’s also a new playground on the east side of the park. City officials had been hoping to open the splash pad in time before the end of the summer but City Manager Mark McAnarney says there have been some setbacks.
McAnarney says the city has invested a lot in its parks this year, noted by new playground equipment also at Jones Park and new signage around the city.
The splash pad is anticipated to open with a ribbon cutting next Spring.
