The Emporia High football team was outscored by Legend High School out of Parker, Colo., 16-13 in Scott City on Saturday.
Legend held a 9-0 lead at halftime. The Spartans first score came in the third quarter when Skyler Douglas scored on a 20-yard run to make it a 9-7. Legend extended their lead to 16-7. In the fourth quarter, Tyler Lindquist scored on a 3 yard run to cut the deficit to 16-13. Emporia High missed a 47 yard field goal at the end of the game that would have tied the game.
The Spartans did outgain Legend 324 yards of offense to 243 yards.
Emporia High with the loss is now 1-2 and will host Topeka Seaman on Friday.
