Already facing charges of sexual battery against two adults, an Emporia chiropractor has now been charged with sexually assaulting a teenager.
A formal charge of rape has been filed in Lyon County District Court against Eric Hawkins, with an alternate rape count also filed. Court documents say Hawkins allegedly raped a then-15- or 16-year-old at least once between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30, 2015. Those documents indicate year of birth but not a specific date.
Hawkins was formally charged Aug. 30 with aggravated sexual battery from mid-February 2018 against a 22-year-old victim as well as sexual battery dating back to March 2015 against a then-32-year-old. All the charges follow action by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts on July 27 to suspend Hawkins’ license. The court affidavits are sealed, but documentation on the Board of Healing Arts said Hawkins initiated unwanted skin contact on at least one occasion. Hawkins’ license is still suspended.
A graduate of Parker College of Chiropractic in 1997, Hawkins has been working at Emporia Chiropractic. He had his original Kansas license issued in April 2006. His license was set to expire this upcoming January.
Hawkins is set for a first appearance Thursday in Lyon County District Court.
