Clients of Hetlinger Developmental Services had a day of fun and activities thanks to a new partnership between local organizations.
Team Schnak, the local cycling and fundraising team for juvenile diabetes research, teamed up with Hetlinger to put on the inaugural Hetlinger Field Day Monday morning.
Executive Director Trudy Hutchinson says the new event came about after a very generous donation.
Hetlinger serves individuals in the community living with intellectual developmental disabilities, providing them with services such as employment coaching, an onsite workshop, community days and outings and arts and crafts activities. Kent Schnakenberg of Team Schnak says he was inspired to get involved with Hetlinger after making a stop there during the annual Special Olympics Torch Run.
One Hetlinger Client in attendance was Dennis Burris, a Special Olympics athlete, who expressed his gratitude to both Hetlinger and Team Schnak.
Hutchinson commented on the partnership with Team Schnak saying it has been “Amazing” and she is hoping it will continue to grow. Along with riding the newly donated bikes those in attendance had the opportunity to play disc golf, make chalk art on the sidewalk and try their hand at the bean bag toss.
