Bryan Williams may be exiting the Granada Theatre stage left by the end of the month, but he’s put another big concert on the theater’s calendar before he heads out the door.
Williams made the Christmas concert announcement live during KVOE’s 8:05 am newscast Monday: Shenandoah is bringing “A Good Old-Fashioned Christmas” to town Dec. 7. Tickets go on sale at $25 to $65 for Friends of the Granada members Tuesday and the general public Thursday.
Once again, Pat and Lori Clark are sponsoring the show as they have the past several years.
Williams announced his resignation on social media Sept. 1. In a self-effacing interview, he told KVOE listeners it was simply time to try something else.
Williams says he was grateful to the Theatre Alliance Board of Directors, volunteers, sponsors, residents and KVOE for the success of the theater — especially when it comes to the concert schedule, which has grown significantly from an Elvis impersonator several years ago.
Williams says there is a delicate balancing act in running a non-profit concert venue, which puts pressure on a director in making sure there is a high attendance to a full house each and every night. He refuted any questions that he was pressured to leave.
The Granada Theatre Alliance Board of Directors has started the process to find Williams’s replacement. Board members say this will be a nationwide search. Williams, meanwhile, and his wife Janice, plan to re-start the Keller Feed and Wine restaurant in Cottonwood Falls.
