Two Wichita residents were hurt in a crash on the Kansas Turnpike near the Matfield Green service exit Friday morning.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says a one-vehicle wreck happened just after 9 am near mile marker 99 northbound, nearly two miles north of the service area. According to an online report, 65-year-old Shelby Hinton, Jr., lost control of his car due to wet roads. The car hit the center barrier wall and swerved into a ditch. Both Hinton and a passenger, 34-year-old Melinda Hinton, were listed as injured. The Highway Patrol crash log does not list whether either person was hospitalized as a result. Both were wearing seat belts when the crash happened.
