Commercial Street was a paradise for sellers and shoppers alike Saturday.
The Great American Market returned and filled up the 400 to 900 blocks of Commercial. From hand-painted signs to handcrafted glass figurines and of course a wide selection of food there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Emporia Main Street Director Casey Woods says there are numerous things that make the market unique, but the best part is not knowing what may be just around the corner.
Woods adds Emporia has a reputation for being a town of entrepreneurs which is a big drawing point for vendors both from the area and outside of it. Food vendor Greg Gauthier has been coming to Emporia for several years with his steak tips business during the annual Dirty Kanza. He says there are two big drawing points to Emporia for him.
Emporia State Graduate and Madison resident Sam Wine, owner of Wine Cellar Antiques and Gifts, has been coming to the market for several years and says the relationships he makes is just as important as the business he conducts.
Woods estimates around 8,000 people attend the market each year.
