Lyon County commissioners have their plan in place for the federally-mandated biannual bridge inspection next year.
Commissioners on Thursday approved the latest biannual bridge inspection through Alfred Benesch and Company. Lyon County is paying around $253,000 for the inspection.
County Engineer Chip Woods says the county’s bridge crews are active monitoring bridge conditions — and replacing bridges when the time is right.
The county has around 400 bridges to maintain, and about 10 are up for repair the next two years.
Also, commissioners approved the posting of a 30-mph speed limit on Road B-2 from Road 180 south to US Highway 50. That move was recommended by the Emporia-Lyon County Joint Traffic Safety Committee.
