Rain or no, road construction continues across the area.
The Kansas Turnpike Authority has closed the southbound outside lane between mile markers 141 and 145 for milling and resurfacing. The work zone also involves a 12-foot lane width restriction and a 65 mph speed limit.
In town, one lane of traffic is allowed at a work site near 18th as Public Works crews finish their work on a repairing a 20-inch water main. The street was fully closed for about four hours Tuesday and it might be fully repaired by Friday.
A host of street construction projects are about set to begin. Emporia City Engineer Jim Ubert joins our Talk of Emporia at 11:06 am Friday on 14 KVOE, 96.9 FM and KVOE.com.
