The Kansas Supreme Court says a petition to have a grand jury investigate the potential mishandling of voter information by gubernatorial candidate Kris Kobach can move forward.
Chief Justice Lawton Nuss signed an order denying Kobach’s request to review a Court of Appeals ruling that said Lawrence resident Steven Davis, a two-time candidate for the Kansas House, had met legal benchmarks for petitions to summon a grand jury according to the Lawrence Journal-World.
Davis says Kobach, the current Secretary of State, and others in his office mishandled voter information and also worked to prevent qualified voters from going to the ballots. Kobach and staffers have rejected the allegations.
With this being a citizen-initiated grand jury investigation, Douglas County would be responsible for summoning potential jury members.
