Last month’s primary election results have been certified.
The State Board of Canvassers met Friday and confirmed voting numbers, saying Secretary of State Kris Kobach defeated Gov. Jeff Colyer by less than 350 votes for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. Over 250,000 votes were cast for that position.
Laura Kelly, meanwhile, handily won the Democratic nomination by gaining over 51 percent of the vote.
The Board of Canvassers says 27 percent of the state’s registered voters, or around 487,000 people, voted last month. State officials were expecting a 25-percent turnout.
