Emporia State University has a new layer of security on campus. As in security cameras.
Over the summer, the university installed 110 outdoor security cameras. Spokesperson Gwen Larson tells KVOE News summer turned out to be a good time to install the new security feature.
Larson says the cameras monitor activity on campus, so if an incident of concerns develops, ESU Chief of Police Chris Hoover and his staff can review what happened. She says there is no bank of monitor screens for somebody to watch 24-7 as part of this package.
The total price tag was around $240,000, including the cameras themselves, installation of cameras and installation of the supporting equipment like software.
