The Emporia State football team kicks off the 2018 season Thursday night. They play the Riverhawks of Northeastern State.
The Hornets were preseason picked 5th and Northeastern State 11th in the MIAA preseason polls.
Coach Garin Higgins says they need to stay focused on 1 play at at time.
Senior receiver Jordan Reed says its time to play a game.
Sophomore Jace McDown will be making his first start at middle linebacker.
