College students have another option to earn a four-year business degree thanks to a new 2-plus-2 articulation agreement.
Administrators from Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College signed the agreement Wednesday paving the way for FHTC students who complete an associate of applied science degree in business technology to easily transition into ESU’s bachelor of science program in either business administration or business education. FHTC Dean of Instructional Services Kim Dhority was instrumental in bringing the two sides together and explains why the partnership made sense.
Career opportunities with the two-year business technology degree at FHTC include executive assistant, office manager, marketing specialist, legal assistant, financial assistant and payroll clerk. The additional work for the bachelor’s degree will expand to career paths in sales, banking, entrepreneurship, finance and human resources. Dean of the ESU School of Business Dr. Ed Bashaw says this is a win-win for the schools but also for the Emporia business community.
The 2-plus-2 articulation agreement becomes the second between the two institutions, following a 2016 agreement between their respective nursing programs.
