The Friday night lights will be shining brightly on Welch Stadium this week as Emporia High hosts Washburn Rural in its season-opening football game.
Prior to the game, the community is invited to Spartan Fest, a fundraising tailgate for the football booster club. Bryon Douglas was on KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 program Wednesday and explained what types of activities will be going on.
Douglas explains how the money raised supports the football program.
Food is being served from 5 to 6:15 p.m. and it is first come, first served. The tailgate will take place at the tennis courts on the north side of the Welch Stadium parking lot.
