TOPEKA — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is now looking into the discovery of skeletal remains in Neosho County and a fatal shooting in Stafford County.
In Neosho County, a farmer mowing near Ford Road and 50th Road, about eight miles southwest of Galesburg and about 110 miles southeast of Emporia, discovered the remains Monday. Those remains have been taken to the Shawnee County Coroner’s Office for further examination.
The KBI is considering this as a suspicious death but is not releasing additional information at this time. People with information are asked to call the Neosho County Sheriff’s Office at 620-244-3884 or the KBI at 800-KS CRIME.
In Stafford County, the KBI is teaming with the sheriff’s office after a shooting in Seward shortly before 10 am. Authorities discovered a woman, later identified as 35-year-old Adrianne Martin of Seward, dead apparently of gunshot wounds and a man, currently not identified, with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The man was taken to a local hospital.
Early indications are the two were acquaintances, although the depth of their relationship has not been released.
As with the Neosho County case, no additional details are being released at this time.
