Strong to severe thunderstorms made a surprise appearance for some KVOE listeners Tuesday morning.
A cluster of strong storms pushed into Chase County, triggering a severe thunderstorm warning for the county around 9:30 am. The complex generated estimated 60 mph winds and dropped half-dollar-sized hail near Cottonwood Falls. The storms then pushed into northwest Lyon and southeast Morris counties but did not produce any severe weather.
How this morning activity impacts the risk of stronger storms, especially Tuesday night, remains to be seen. There is currently a marginal risk of severe weather for the KVOE listening area from around sunset until midnight.
Thunderstorm chances resume early Thursday and continue through the Labor Day weekend. We’ll keep you updated on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
