The Tampa Bay Rays walked off with a 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals Thursday night. The Rays scored the winning run in the bottom of the 9th thanks to a throwing error on Ryan O’Hearn.
The Royals scored first when Alex Gordon scored on a Lucas Duda single in the first. The Rays scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning. The Royals retook the led with 2 runs in the 5th inning. Alcides Escobar scored on a Alex Gordon single. Whit Merrifield scored on a Salvador Perez sacrifice fly. The Rays tied the game in the 7th and won it in the 9th.
The Royals host the Cleveland Indians Friday night with Brad Keller on the mound for the Royals with first pitch set for 7:15p.
The Royals are now 38 and 90 for the season.
Thursday the Boston Red Sox became the first team to win 90 games with a 7-0 win over Cleveland.
