SOS Strong is in the books, and it was a banner year for fundraising.
This year, 20 local men from Lyon and most surrounding counties accepted a personal invitation to raise $1,000 apiece to support SOS in their mission to help end domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect. This year’s participants brought in a record-breaking $33,441.94. SOS Child Advocacy Center Director Lucas Moody says this type of donation has a multiplying effect on grants funds as well.
Moody says having men involved in raising funds for SOS also change the narrative of all men being violent.
The awards banquet was a private event for SOS to thank all participants being recognized individually for their efforts. The top individual fundraiser, Warran Harshman, raised a record-breaking $14,660.
