With kids back in school this week, motorists are reminded that there are penalties for not obeying laws when it pertains to school buses and crossings.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office on its Facebook page noted the different fines that are enforced. They are as follows:
* Disobeying a school crossing guard – $75.00
* Improper passing of a school bus – $315.00
* Seatbelt violations for adults – $30 (no court costs)
* Child not wearing seatbelt $60.00
* Teenager 14 to 17 years old no seatbelt – $60 (no court costs)
* Disobeying a traffic control device – $75.00
* Age restriction violations – requires a court appearance
Court costs aren’t cheap either. All but two of these have added court costs totaling $108.00.
Drivers found guilty of exceeding the speed limit in a school zone will see their fines doubled.
