The city of Lebo continues downtown renovations, and it is in the process of writing a grant application to continue the process.
City officials are hoping to take advantage of a $1 million federal grant, with the money passing through the Kansas Department of Transportation if approved. This work would lead to the installation of decorative street lights with underground electricity, new sidewalks and repaved streets affecting a third of a block on Broadway and a block of Ogden. The city cost share would be $200,000, with the money generated by the town’s sales tax.
This is the second phase of significant work in downtown Lebo over the last five years. Round one included infrastructure and handicapped-accessibility projects for most of Broadway at a total cost of $1.5 million.
The city’s grant application has to be submitted by Sept. 10.
