Fifth District Community Corrections is always looking for ways to improve the success of probationers in Lyon and Chase counties, and it has started a new program towards that end.
Director Steve Willis says Community Corrections is now embarking on a mentoring program.
Mentors have to be at least 21 years old and there is a review process before mentors can be approved for the program. They also need to provide a resume and three references at the start of the process.
Willis says discussions have been ongoing for quite some time to make sure this new program gives probationers a better chance of success.
For more information or to volunteer as a mentor, call Community Corrections at 341-3294 or stop by the department office in the basement of the Lyon County Courthouse.
