Newman Regional Health CEO Bob Wright provided an update on the hospital’s emergency department construction during KVOE’s most recent On-Air Chat.
Wright says construction on the nearly $15 million project has largely stayed on schedule as the weather has warmed. He says the new facility will put Newman Regional Health in a class by itself when it comes to emergency care across Kansas.
The new facility is doubling the capacity of the current emergency department with 19 exam rooms as opposed to 10. Newman ExpressCare and Newman’s “clinical decision” or outpatient observation unit will also be co-located at the emergency department. Three new trauma rooms will also be part of the new facility. Wright says those moves will improve efficiency tremendously along with providing top-end care for patients, including new technology and other amenities like private bathrooms.
The ED should be open to the public by early next year.
