The 32nd annual Flint Hills Beef Fest is up and rolling.
Activities began Friday morning with the traditional breakfast and beef producers seminar. Beef Fest President Scott Jones says those who came out were educated by guest speakers on some of the hot topics surrounding the beef industry including labels.
Jones says that is a problem for beef producers who are growing real meat. He says consumers need to be aware of what’s inside the food they purchase.
Beef Fest activities continue at the Lyon County Fairgrounds through Sunday. The ranch feed kicks off at 6 p.m. and ranch rodeo is at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for both.
Saturday starts with a horse competition at 8 a.m. followed by the live stocker show and Ag Olympics. KVOE will be out broadcasting live and also will be cooking up hamburgers at 11 a.m. The rest of the day’s activities include the junior ranch rodeo at 1 p.m., the awards banquet and steak dinners at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. respectively with entertainment from John Wesley Austin, and live music and dancing to close out the night.
Sunday wraps up Beef Fest with the annual golf tournament.
