An Emporia teenager who was among several charged in a November kidnapping and beating learned his fate Wednesday in Lyon County District Court.
Alexander Couch, who pleaded to charges of attempted robbery, aggravated battery and conspiracy on those charges was sentenced to 24 months probation by Judge Jeffry Larson. As part of his sentencing, Couch is required to spend 30 days in jail. If Couch violates any part of his probation, he faces an underlying sentence of 26 months with the Department of Corrections.
Couch is one of six defendants charged in this case, stemming from allegations made by a then-16-year-old male that he was kidnapped and subsequently beaten twice, including once at the so-called Rocky Ford or Bird Bridge.
A trial for one of the defendants, Armando Nunez is coming later this year. Nunez faces charges of aggravated battery, conspiracy to commit aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.
