Superheroes were on hand to kick off Flint Hills Community Health Center’s participation in National Health Center Week.
FHCHC staff members dawned their capes and cowls and decorated the Health Center with life-sized balloon figures of popular comic book heroes. Along with staff, local first responders from both the Emporia Fire and Police Departments were on hand.
Flint Hills Community Health Center Director of Marketing Verlin Conkle says their goal is to honor heroes in every profession.
Health Center staff members dressed up in superhero apparel, decorated their doors and even made life scale models of famous superheroes out of balloons and special selfie stations. Awards were handed out for the best-dressed staff members and the best decorations.
FHCHC Billing Supervisor Michelle Cole says the day’s activities are an amazing morale boost for the staff.
For many young children, a trip to the doctor can be a scary and confusing time. Conkle believes having days like this allows young patrons to open up and relate more to FHCHC physicians.
Along with the Emporia Health Center, both the Eureka and Madison locations are also participating in National Health Center Week activities. The full list of activities are as follows
Tuesday: Open house 2-4 pm
Wednesday: Healthcare for the Homeless
Thursday: County Fair and Carnival
Friday: Patient Appreciation Day 1-3 pm
