Who says a new school year can’t be a cause for celebration?
This is the idea shared amongst members of the Emporia High School Student Council who have organized a block party to celebrate the beginning of a new school term. Student Council members recently joined KVOE to share the details about the upcoming celebration.
EHS Student Council member Betsy Williams says the party is not just for EHS students.
The block party will feature games, inflatables and food as well as the fun run around EHS’s fitness trail. You may find registration information at Emporia High School.
Council member Taylor Thomas says there is no traditional fee to participate in the fun run.
While the block party is a student ran event, council members had to go through the proper channels to gain approval, which council member Storm Dial says was very simple thanks to the cooperation of staff and students.
Council member Alexis Davis shared this sentiment and praised EHS administrators for their support to the student body.
11 student-led groups will have booths at the block party which will be held Saturday, August 18th in the back parking lot. The block party is free and open to the public and will run from 5 pm to 8 pm.
