While many traditional students head back to Emporia State University next week, officials are hoping more senior citizens take advantage of some free learning opportunities available.
Community members 60 and older are able to audit a course at ESU, meaning they attend class at no tuition cost, but also don’t receive any credit. On a recent ESU Buzz, Registrar Sheila Markowitz discussed some of the benefits for those who audit a course
A relatively small number of residents actually take part in course auditing. ESU Provost David Cordle says they would like to see that number grow since the policy has been in place for a while at all six Kansas universities.
Applications are available in Plumb Hall, room 108. Courses are graded with an audit mode, with participants receiving either a pass or fail.
