The St. Louis Cardinals shutout the Kansas City Royals 7-0 Friday night.
The Cardinals scored 5 of those runs in the 2nd inning all off of starter Burch Smith.
Royals Manager Ned Yost was pleased with the work of the relievers, especially Glenn Sparkman and Jason Adam who threw a combined 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits.
The Royals did manage 7 hits and stranded 11 base runners.
The Royals and Cardinals play again Saturday night with Danny Duffy on the mound for the Royals with first pitch at 6:15p. Coverage on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM begins at 5:30p.
