SOS Strong is off to a fast start.
Spokesman Lucas Moody joined KVOE’s Newsmaker program Friday to give an update on the fundraising campaign which began in mid-July. He says some individuals are already well over their $1,000 goals. Moody talked about Steve Vaughn who has enlisted the baking help of Evora Wheeler, who’s already panned up some of her signature cinnamon rolls for the efforts.
Moody says 20 strongmen in Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Morris and Osage counties are tasked with raising $1,000 or more through Aug. 23. He explains how the money will support the local SOS chapter.
Moody also says creativity is a big part of the SOS Strong campaign.
SOS advocates for victims of domestic and sexual violence, child abuse and neglect. Prizes are awarded to the fastest to raise, most money raised and the most creative campaign.
