A second review hearing is now coming as criminal court proceedings begin in the alleged theft case involving the former director of Emporia’s senior center.
At a hearing Thursday in Lyon County District Court, former director Lannie Lyman said she had reached out to an attorney and could have legal representation within a week. Judge Doug Jones then set the second review hearing for 1:30 pm Aug. 16.
Lyman faces a single count of theft of over $100,000 from the Senior Center over a nearly two-year time period in 2016 and 2017. At her first appearance July 31, Lyman asked for court-appointed counsel but that request was denied.
After the attorney review hearing, Lyman is tentatively set for a preliminary hearing Aug. 23.
