LYNDON — A roundabout connecting three Osage County highways had to be almost completely closed to traffic for several hours after a wreck early Thursday.
Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn says deputies responded to a non-injury crash at the intersection of Kansas Highways 31 and 268 as well as US Highway 75. The wreck happened around 1 am when the driver of a semi, Michael A. Cox of Grand Junction, Colo., was southbound on US-75 and hit the roundabout. The semi’s fuel tank was damaged and spilled about 70 gallons of diesel fuel.
Both K-31 and US-75 had traffic down to one lane for about four hours after the crash.
Besides deputies, Osage County Fire District 5, Osage County Emergency Management and the Kansas Department of Transportation all responded to the scene. The investigation continues.

K-31 was shut down just west of the roundabout that connects the highway with US Highway 75 and Kansas Highway 268. Crash details at this time are pending through the Osage County Sheriff’s Office.
The department says the roundabout is now clear and all traffic is back to normal. US 75 was down to one lane with flaggers directing traffic through the roundabout.
