One person was arrested in Greenwood County over the weekend after allegedly running in he middle of a highway intersection near Severy.
The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office fielded a report of an individual walking in the middle of Kansas Highway 99 south of the US 400 junction. A deputy responded and found the person, later identified as Traci Sloan, was actually running into the US 400 traffic lanes.
Authorities say Sloan was intoxicated and was aggressive towards the deputy, so a scuffle developed before the deputy took Sloan into custody. Sloan allegedly kicked, hit, spit on and tried to bite the deputy during the arrest. She also allegedly broke different items inside the patrol car, and the Sheriff’s Office says that behavior continued during the trip to the Greenwood County Jail in Eureka.
Sloan was arrested on suspicion of pedestrian under the influence, resisting arrest, battery on a law enforcement officer, criminal damage, battery on a corrections officer and assault on a law enforcement officer. Formal charges and court dates are pending.
