The Lyon County Fair officially kicked off Thursday evening with the carnival, and there is still more to come starting this weekend.
Saturday evening at the fair will be ESU Night at the Fair, which will highlight the accomplishments and honor Emporia State University. The night will feature live music, a beer garden courtesy of the Bourbon Cowboy, games and prizes.
Director of Alumni Relations at ESU Jose Feliciano says it is a great way to keep the community updated on what’s happening at Emporia State.
ESU Night will begin at 5 pm Saturday on the north side of the Bowyer Building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds.
This event is just the start of several days of activities put on by the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce as part of their Nights at the Fair. Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna:
All events will be held at the Bowyer Building and will run from 5 pm to 7 pm with live music and entertainment from 6-8 pm.
Along with the activities, the Lions Club will be at the fair as well Saturday, offering free check-ups for local residents. The Kansas Lions mobile screening unit will be parked on the fairgrounds from 3-8 pm Saturday.
Lions Club member Gary Post explains what they test in the mobile screening unit.
To schedule a screening simply walk up to the mobile screening unit and register.
