The Emporia City Commission will hold an action meeting Wednesday afternoon.
Commissioners will sift through several considerations including a grant totaling more than $67,000 to be awarded to sub-recipients Plumb Place and SOS by the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation. The city will also consider a public hearing and approval of a $300,000 community development block grant for the rehabilitation of approximately 16 homes occupied by low-to-moderate income owners in southwest Emporia.
The City Commission also will consider drawing down up to $175,000 in earnings from the Lake Kahola Fund to help pay for a portion of the recent improvements to the Emporia park system, including the new spray park in Peter Pan Park. A decision also is expected on whether or not to uphold the Joint Traffic Safety Committee’s decision to deny placement of two stop signs at the intersection of Crestview and Twin Lakes Drive.
Other items on the agenda include an ordinance consideration to facilitate the merger of the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals and a KDOT agreement for the cooperation agreement for US-50 Access Management Plan.
Wednesday’s meeting is set for 1:30 p.m. in Room 1AB at White Auditorium.
